We aren’t your typical group of girls, so when my best friend asked me to arrange her hen night, it was going to be the complete opposite of the usual feminine rubbish. We won’t be going on any trips for a spa day, or to get massages; we are far more comfortable having a laugh on a night out than we are doing the things that are expected of us. So when it came to organising the entertainment that came before the hen night itself, I knew exactly where we were going.

Not all the girls had been paintballing before, but me and the bride had been a few times and knew it would be the perfect way to start the day. It would definitely loosen everybody up before the night ahead, as well as giving us the perfect excuse to shoot some men we would be playing against. On a ladies night, there is nothing more fun than showing the guys who’s boss. I booked with Splat Paintball, as they had plenty of locations just a short drive from our house. Within minutes our spot on the battlefield was secure and we couldn’t wait to kick off the hen party in style.

I’ve been on hen parties before where we haven’t even gone out during the day, then left too late because the bridesmaids were too busy sorting out their outfits. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here, as within minutes of getting up, we were dressed and ready to head straight out to war. Not that we needed any fancy outfits here; we’d be caked head to toe in paint within minutes of the game beginning, so we weren’t too bothered about looking our best. All that mattered was the fun we were about to have.

The staff at the site knew we were there as part of a hen party experience and went out of their way to make it as special for us as it could possibly be. Not that they needed to go out of their way, as we had a brilliant time; it certainly got the blood pumping and left us feeling electrified and ready for the night ahead. Me and the bride may have already been adrenaline junkies, but I’m so glad the rest of the girls loved the time battling it out here too- we’ll definitely have to get in the way of her married life to persuade everybody to come back for round two.
